My family is a critical part of who I have become, as I am sure most people would ascertain from their individual family experiences. I have Cuban, Chinese, and Italian roots, which is a very diverse assortment in terms of culture and genetics. My family tree’s most reminiscent roots to me date back to my great-grandmother. However, I have a closer relationship with my grandmother, Mary. Growing up, it became some sort of custom for Nana Mary to take me out on Saturdays. Even though the rigors of time and distance have affected some aspects of our relationship, nana Mary and I remain in constant communication. It is difficult to dispute family and society’s role in a person’s life.
Socio-cultural norms, customs, and traditions have defined my life. Yu and Pirnazaro, both scholars, affiliated with Karakalpak University, argued that customs and traditions affect several life elements, including socio-political institutions like the government. Some of the customs and traditions that have defined my understanding of the world and the trajectory of my life include the respect afforded to family gatherings during holiday seasons. My family appreciates the necessity for physical gatherings during specific holidays like thanksgiving and Christmas. This exuberance with holidays translates to our family’s togetherness during periods of distress.

She called them rebels” and said, “speak Spanish with a stern face whenever they speak to you; there is nothing humans fear more than what they cannot understand.”
In conclusion, my family has molded my character and is a pillar of my personality. Everything I am has roots in what they have taught me, the morals and values they have inculcated, and the memories I share with them.
